Need help? If you have any questions, please contact us. Code of Conduct Our conference is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion (or lack thereof), or technology choices. We expect all event participants to treat each other with the utmost respect and make every effort to ensure a positive experience for everyone. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any conference activity, including talks, workshops, parties, and online media. Participants at the event are encouraged to interact collaboratively, support trainee scientific development, and have fun with friends, old and new. We strive to promote conversations among scientists during which constructive feedback (both positive and negative) can be provided and respectfully received. It is the expectation of the Molecular Biosystems Conference organizers that participants will avoid conflicts of interest and maintain their awareness of power dynamics (e.g. be cognizant of hierarchical and privileged positions). All types of harassment including but not limited to verbal, physical, and sexual harassment will not be tolerated at the event. Examples of harassment and unacceptable professional conduct can include, but are not limited to, offensive verbal comments related to gender, gender identity and expression, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, religion, technology choices, use of slurs, sexually charged communications or conduct, deliberate stalking or following, intimidating or threatening behavior, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Sponsors and exhibitors are also subject to the anti-harassment policy. In particular, sponsors/exhibitors should not use sexualized images, activities, or other material. Booth staff (including volunteers) should not use sexualized clothing/uniforms/costumes, or otherwise create a sexualized environment. If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including, but not limited to, warning the offender, expulsion from the conference with no refund, and contacting the offender's institution. Reporting acts of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact any conference organizer immediately, either directly or via email ([email protected]), or contact local authorities immediately to report the incident if the behavior is criminal in nature. Information related to reported unacceptable behavior will be handled confidentially, discreetly and promptly. Complaints will be timely investigated by the organizers or a third party on their behalf. The organizers will help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We expect participants to follow these rules at conference and workshop venues and conference-related social events. False reporting Knowingly making a false accusation of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation, or knowingly providing false information during an investigation of a report, may be grounds for disciplinary action. A complaint made in good faith, even if found to be unsubstantiated, will not be considered a false accusation. Retaliation Retaliation against an individual for reporting harassment or discrimination or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is strictly prohibited. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will be promptly addressed. (Modified from http://confcodeofconduct.com/ and the RNA Society Code of Conduct ). |
